Spring onions, also known as green onions or scallions, are a popular ingredient used in a variety of dishes, from salads and stir-fries to soups and garnishes. Instead of discarding the root ends of your spring onions, you can easily regrow them using a simple water method, saving you money and reducing waste.
Trim the spring onions about three centimeters from the root, then place the trimmings upright into a glass and fill it with water so that the roots, but not all of the spring onion trimmings, ,are well submerged.
Keep the glass on a windowsill or a bright spot and refresh the water twice a week. After around 3 weeks you will have another batch of spring onions. You can repeat the process 3-4 more times.
